Welcome the new Board 2008-2009! Chair Hammy McClymont, Vice-Chair Al Mulholland, Secretary/Treasurer Charlie Jefferies, Director of Spirit of BC Week Nancy Hache, Director of Arts & Culture Carol Doyle, and Director of Communications Sandra Cunningham, members-At-Large Colleen Clark, Executive Director of the Sechelt Chamber of Commerce, Connie Jordison, District of Sechelt, and Mary Bittroff. There is still room for another member and interested parties are invited to contact us. Greg Soohen, the last of the original ferry commuters who brought this committee to fruition, retired from the Board as did Liz Kingdon, who was gratefully acknowledged for her work as Treasurer this past year. In the year 2010, British Columbia will welcome the world to the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Games bring with them a host of opportunities that will sustain long after the athletes and the world's media have gone home. We need to begin planning and working together now so that the Sunshine Coast can capitalize on these opportunities. The Sunshine Coast Spirit of BC Committee is a Provincially appointed committee comprised of local Sunshine Coast residents. Our mandate is to use the 2010 Winter Games as a catalyst to assist the community in developing a strong and vibrant regional economy with a supportive social infrastructure. In creating this site we have tried to make it easy for you to find the information that you are looking. The information we have included on the site is organized in 3 different categories; Visitor Information Local Businesses Information Community Information We look forward to continuing to work together with the businesses and people of our community to meet the challenges and opportunities of 2010 with innovation and enthusiasm. The Spirit of BC and 2010 is about bringing out the best of B.C. in every community and every field of endeavour and I am confident that the Sunshine Coast will be no exception.
