FAIR PLAY MEETING TUESDAY, December 2 2008
It was collectively decided that: FIRST AND FOREMOST, IT IS THE RIGHT OF ALL SOCCER PLAYERS TO FEEL SAFE TO PLAY SOCCER ON ANY FIELD ON THE SUNSHINE COAST. WE HAVE ALL AGREED TO ABIDE BY THE FAIR PLAY POLICY, AND THAT WHEN ANY PLAYER IS ACTING CONTRARY TO THESE GUIDELINES, IT DEGRADES THE GAME, AND TAKES AWAY FROM THE SAFETY OF OTHER PLAYERS, ON BOTH TEAMS. THAT REFEREES ARE THERE TO KEEP EVERYONE SAFE ON THE FIELD, AND THAT REFS NEED TO FEEL ABLE TO CALL THE GAME AS THEY SEE FIT TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF ALL PLAYERS ON THE FIELD. THAT THE WOMEN'S LEAGUE AS A WHOLE AGREE TO EMPOWER THE REFEREES TO DISCONTINUE THE HABIT OF BEHAVIOR CONTRARY TO THE FAIR PLAY POLICY.
1. The fair play committee would act as an intermediary between the players with their reports on game misconduct, and the disciplinary committee.
2. That the women's league would be in contact with the men's league on what to do in the case of game reporting of incidents that are not in compliance with the FAIR play policy.
3. That the fair play committee would look into the FIFA rules and procedures for how to keep track of reporting of incidents that are not in compliance with the Fair play policy.
4. The fair play committee's recommendations in regards to incidents that have recently occurred resulting in the reported complaints are as such:
A. That teams will from now on meet together in the center of the field with the ref before each game commences.
B. In the center of the field while the ref goes over the conduct and the cleats, etc. that each team captain and coach will request on behalf of their teams that the refs issue cards for any behavior against the fair play policy.
C. Each team representative made an agreement to encourage their team mates, and their coaches, and their fans, to:
a) abide by the fair play policy
b) to respect the refs decisions without complaint
c) to encourage their fans, players and coaches to always listen to the ref, and be respectful of the ref.
5. Teams need to fill out a report when infringements to the fair play policy happen.
6. The Fair Play committee will create a file for all reports submitted by teams of the SCWSL.
According to FIFA: Abandoned Match
An abandoned match is replayed unless the competition rules provide otherwise.
According to the SCWSL: An abandoned match is one where the referee walks off the field. This match will later be replayed. If a team walks off the field in protest, they have forfeited the game. Those are the rules and we should stick to them.
