| The Sunshine Coast Scorpions, continued to battle flu and injury, and went into their last league game with a depleted roster of only 12. Their determination paid of and on Saturday they won their final league game of the season 5-1 over the West Vancouver Spuraways. The U13 boys team played with determination to secure their position on top of the standings. Jordan Kammerle got a hat trick, and Liam Rankin got the other two.
The Scorpions, who were undefeated this season in league play, finished the season at the top of the standings in the Gold Division of the 4 District Soccer League. To put this in perspective, there are 59 U13 boys rep soccer teams in Vancouver, the North Shore, Richmond and Burnaby, and the Scorpions were the top team, in the top division. | |

This one win was part of an outstanding effort over an entire season by the whole team: Duncan Armstrong, Everett August, Xavier Benjamin, Cole Cooney, Justin Fodchuk, Philip Fogarty, Gabe Goerzen, Evan Griffin, Bradely Huddlestone, Keegan Inkster, Jordan Kammerle, Ben Luporini, Liam Rankin, Finn Rogers, Tristan Tidder and Quintin Towert. Coaches Rod Kammerle and Rob Huddlestone dedicated a tremendous amount of time to develop, train and lead the boys. Last but not least, the cooperation and support of the families of these boys was instrumental in the success of the team. Congratulations to the entire Scorpions Family.
The Scorpions league season is now complete, but they still have a tournament during Spring Break, and the Provincial B Cup series begins at the end of March.
The Scorpions are having a great season so far. In league play, 11 games thus far, the team is undefeated with a record of 11 wins, 1 tie, and 0 losses. They have scored an incredible 46 goals for, with only 8 against in league play. The Scorpions are currently in first place in the Gold division of the boys league.
The team won their first two cup games, only to be knocked out of the Pioneer cup by the South Burnaby Strikers, the second place team, in their only loss of the season. The Scorpions are still in contention for the Provincial B Cup, and expect to do well once the games get scheduled and played.
