The U12 Girls Thunder started their inaugural year in rep by participating at the Chilliwack soccer tournament in August. The girls, hardly knowing one another, proved to be a very strong defensive team. In four games they only lost one in regulation. Two games were decided in a shoot out, resulting in one win and one loss for the Sunshine Coast girls. They held the tournament champions from Surrey to only one goal against.

The rest of the season has been a roller coaster, as first year rep teams often are. They started the season with a home win against the North Van Thunder. Since then the girls have played many close games that could have gone either way. They have had three league wins, and three draws thus far, with one league game remaining.

The girls did win their first ever Cup game in December, and have since, lost one Cup game. Their final round robin Cup game is yet to be played. The girls will wrap up their season participating in the South Burnaby Metro Club Soccer Tournament on the weekend at the beginning of Spring Break. The girls have learned a lot about soccer this season, made friends, and had a lot of fun.
