Mercy and Caring Children's Homes
Kitale, Kenya, East Africa
A
PLACE OF HOPE FOR
VULNERABLE KENYAN CHILDREN |
We can offer 4 types of experiences for visiting Mercy and Caring Children’s Homes in Kenya, differing mainly in length of stay. |
1. You may be going to Kenya as a tourist on your own holiday, but want to stop in at Mercy and Caring Children’s Home to see your sponsor child.
PILOT PROJECT: BE PART OF OUR NEW INTERNSHIP PROGRAM. COME FOR JULY AND AUGUST 2010
2. You may want to come and help at MCCH but can only be away from other responsibilities for 3 weeks in a particular time of the year. You would have one week to adjust to jet lag and the culture, and 2 weeks to participate in a work project like painting, sewing curtains, or building an adventure playground. You could also be involved with the children on Saturdays if school is in, or perhaps help with Daily Vacation Bible School week if it is during one of the vacation months: December, April orAugust. 3. You are free to come for July & August, 2010, and want to experience interacting with the children, and participating in outreach to rural homes and churches. You may live on site, be hosted by a family, or live in a hotel. The trip from North America is 2 long flights usually through Amsterdam or London to Nairobi, and then an overnight in a hotel and 8 hour bus trip, OR a 2 hour flight to Eldoret where you would be met and driven to Kitale. The second way limits luggage to a backpack unless one pays for suitcases, appx. $1.00 per pound. 4. You are serious about Missions as a Career, and want to spend time as an intern learning all you can about the culture, people and ministry to see if you fit for a long term placement. |
| Notes from our Visitors |
God impressed me to take 4 of our managerial staff to a ladies' conference taught by Sheryl, a visitor to ICM (another organization) from California. She taught this prayer: "Lord, I forgive ____________for making me feel____________." (naming the emotion.) I praise God for HIs work of forgiveness among these ladies. For the other 4 female staff who had to stay on site and work while we enjoyed the conference, I offered them a meal out of chicken and chips or 200Ks. and just a cup of tea. They chose the cup of tea. We had a good time of fellowship. All this has helped the staff to bond.
SHERYL AND PAUL VISIT
Sheryl and Paul came to visit Mercy and Caring Home last Sunday. When Paul looked around the big boy's dorm, he told the children, "I've never seen such a clean dorm!" The children cheered. Then he went into the hot kitchen and stirred and sampled the ugali (thick staple corn flour food). How the children laughed and loved him. Paul and Sheryl encouraged us by saying, "This is what we expect in the body of Christ, children being so well loved and cared for. Jesus said; “Let the children come to me."
