Wednesdays - Mary is a consummate teacher with 30+ years’ experience to share, leading novice weavers through their first warp to advanced weavers working on an intricate technique alike. The classes are held in an informal, go at your own pace and follow your personal passion on the loom. On this journey of self-discovery you will open doors to your imagination, nurture your creativity and connect with yourself on a deeper level. No artistic talent is required. You can work with whole dreams or fragments. Carine is a certified expressive art therapist, meditation teacher and writer. Sept 21-22. Choose a four – legged creature you would like to make ie: dog, cat, giraffe, rat, etc. One the first day we will create the wire armature and then build upon it with wool fibres to create the animal form. The second day will be full of the details… in order to make your animals come alive. Needle felting experience would be helpful but a confident beginner is welcome!

Oct 5-6. We will cover many advanced methods of using stencils and masks, registering multiple layers, building a composition and using unusual tools. Jennifer will bring many examples of what can be done with your fabulous printed papers – cards, covered journals or small art pieces for the wall. Students will need to bring their own gel plate, paper and a small selection of acrylic paints (a materials list will be provided). Jennifer will supply lots of extra texture items, stencils, stamps, paint colours and a sheet of sticky-back foam for making stamps.

Nov 2-3. el*e*ments…noun *a part or aspect of something abstract, especially one that is essential. We will be exploring elements . . . the elements of the earth and the elements of design. Using earth pigments, graphite and inks we will be creating unique patterns and prints on fabric on the first day. We will be using some very controlled techniques and other more free form! The next day will be investigating and getting to know the 5 elements of design. We’ll then connect them to your fabric creations and explore some of the many options to combine them.
