| | Description: Günter Loschinski carves the faces of woodspirits into knots and cottonwood bark.The faces display many moods, from wizened and mysterious to humorous. The bark spirits are carved with hand tools and the denser knots carved with small power tools. The carvings vary in size from about 15 cm to 40 cm. Occasionally, I also carve larger pieces on commission.
I find my material where I reside in picturesque Halfmoon Bay, B.C. It is washed up along our beautiful beaches and lying in the coniferous forest also on the mountain plateaus where it has been sun-bleached. Each piece of wood has a hidden spirit which waits to be released. | | |  |  |  |
