Email: redplanetartworks@nadinatandy.com
Website: http://nadinatandy.com
Address: Gibsons BC
Description: My fascination is with what is just under the surface, obscured from full view. I like to work in a way that is receptive to the subconscious mind. When I can let go of control and be without my own narration this is when the magic happens and the painting paints itself. It feels like being on a journey or walking along side a friend. My work is autobiographical in this sense because it is open and changing. Sometimes it is light often times it is dark, I accept all without fear.

We begin with our photographic studies of nature, combining them using a digital layering process. The images are printed and subsequently worked on by hand. Inks, paints, glazes and other mediums are applied to create one of a kind pieces. We are interested in the process of revealing and obscuring, covering and taking away, moving towards and away from, looking, listening, and responding to the subject matter as a metaphor for what might exist above and below the surface of things in the world and in our internal landscapes.

The end products of these kinds of paintings are always a surprise.

Using the artistic concept of “Windows”, Heather Diane’s works are framed in aged wood designed as a window frame allowing the viewer to experience the outdoors from within. The beauty and light portrayed in her art extend into the room as if through a window. This approach touches the senses of the viewer, creating the impression of being drawn into the scene. Heather Diane strives for authenticity in her work by staying as true as possible to her original images, as they are seen with the naked eye.
