  33  Margaret Adams
Phone: 604.840.9575
Address: 290 Skyline Drive, Gibsons
Description: I have been working in the Encaustic Medium for 10 years. As a graduate of UBCO in Kelowna I focused exclusively on this wax medium. At the time there was little information available, and I was able to research the history and evolution of this type of painting. Using beeswax combined with damar resin and combining pigments and oil paints with the medium creates vibrant textured paintings. I often incorporate old metal, gravel and other left over pieces of floss and debris to create abstract work with a lot of interesting texture. Pieces range from 12”X12” inches to 24” X 30” I also paint with acrylics creating large abstract paintings. These pieces often have a landscape reference which occur without any help from the artist.

Soft "safe" landscapes in "oils" of years gone by, were replaced with bright bold colors, flamboyant shapes now in "acrylics" which seemed a more exciting way to portray her new way of "seeing things". Riding the trails of Mt. Elphinstone, on her horse "Joy", Diana is inspired by shady forests, and sunny hillsides. Living the Sunshine Coast dream is Diana's inspiration and is grateful for every day she gets to paint in her Roberts Creek studio. Her love of animals is reflected in her dog portraits & her love of nature, in the trees, flowers, and landscapes Presently Diana is on the board of directors at Gibsons Public Art Gallery.

Description: Colourful paintings inspired by both the tangible universe and the world of imagination. Often when she starts a painting with an image from the natural world, it morphs into something else. When she starts a painting with no conscious image or idea she begins by offering some marks for the canvas to respond to. Eventually the canvas answers with a suggestion and then the fun begins. The end products of these kinds of paintings are always a surprise.
